Crockpot Bread

In 2020 slow cooker breads became a BIG trend! A lot of us were at home all the time and fearful to leave the house! When you run out of bread and have all the staple ingredients in your pantry there's no reason not to give it a try. I found this recipe from Jen Sobjack (Baked by an Introvert).

It is delicious, easy to whip together and tastes great as toast, sandwiches or slathered in butter and used to dunk into your soups!

Chris and I have been trying to stay away from traditional breads but because I know how easy this recipe is I wanted to share! The original recipe is linked above, I will be sharing my method for my crockpot in this post.

*** NOT ALL SLOW COOKERS ARE THE SAME, ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR COOKERS INSTRUCTIONS AND NEVER LEAVE UNATTENDED***

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast

  • 1 ½ teaspoons pink Himalayan salt

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (heated in microwave, 1 minute)

-In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt. Pour in the water and stir with a wooden spoon until the dough forms into a ball. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it set on the counter overnight, 8-18 hours.

-I grease my 6 quart Crockpot: Express Crock Multi-Cooker with avocado oil or you can line your slow cooker with parchment paper.

-Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a ball. Place the dough into the prepared slow cooker.

-Place a layer or two of paper towel under the lid to prevent condensation from dripping onto the dough.

-Turn the slow cooker on high and cook for 2 hours.

-Remove the bread from slow cooker.

-Mine wasn't quite cooked all the way through so I placed it in the oven/toaster oven for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees this also gives the loaf a golden brown crust. I poked a food thermometer to make sure the bread was 190 degrees in the center.

Who knew that 2 hours in the crockpot and only 4 ingredients could taste so good?!?!? Have you made a slow cooker bread? If so what is your favorite recipe? Did you give this recipe a try? Let me know in the comments below👇🏻
