Getting to Know Me: 10 Fun Facts on My Birthday!

In honor of my birthday, I thought it would be fun to share some fun facts about myself :)

I was Born in LA, CA

I lived in California until I was 2 years old. We moved out here for my dad's work and as much as I love visiting California, I LOVE being a Michigander. 4 seasons, Great Lakes, the beautiful Northern part of this glorious state!

I am musical

I can sing, and some tell me I'm pretty good at it :) My sisters and I used to harmonize so beautifully growing up, and I can still be found performing car musicals, leading kids worship songs and dancing and singing in my own home.

I am Self Aware

Even as a kid I have had an enormous amount of self-awareness. It means that as an adult I know when I am at fault or know when I need to improve things in my life. My counselor says it's something to be grateful for and to consider it a rare gift. I try to, though it can be hard for me to explain how it all works up in this self-aware head of mine.

I don't like Wasting Energy

I am not talking about electricity or water in our home, though I'd like to be better about not wasting that type of energy as well.

I can get Angry

A lot of people are surprised by the fact that I am both extremely stubborn and can express anger. I don't like feeling anger, and because of that I have to be careful how I handle it. In the past I have bottled anger in. Now when I feel a burst of anger I will do an 8ish minute deep breathing ritual. Afterwards it simmers me down enough to think logically and clearly. Knowing to do this plays into my self-awareness as well.

I have over 100 Moles/Freckles

I have quite a few on all areas of my body, and yes I have had Chris try to count them all before, he said I have over 100, a mixture of moles and larger freckles all over my body!

I love Being at Home

Saying I'm a homebody is an understatement, I can actually feel sad leaving the doors of my home! But I have had to challenge myself, especially in a post-pandemic world.

History is my Favorite Subject

I have always loved looking back, I'm fascinated with old videos or pictures of places, and learning how times were in certain time periods is so fun for me.

I am Afraid of all Birds

Seagulls, Robins, Crows, Sparrows you name the bird, I am terrified. Maybe it stems from a traumatic childhood incident where a bird got into our house through our fireplace and all I could think about was how I didn't want it to "pee in my apple juice" (My poor mother trying to get both me a crying child and my little baby sister out of the house, to find help with getting the bird out of our house, while my dad was away for work) But I do not trust any beady eyed, bird, to this very day.
